  • More groundwork for the larger database upgrade ahead: two internal queries behind deck power-level analysis were rewritten to behave identically on both today's database and the sturdier one we're moving to — with no visible change to the app.
Notes from the Archivist

A short run of releases — 3.34.1 through 3.34.5 — spent entirely on the unglamorous work that makes a safe move possible. None of it moves a button or changes a screen. We taught the code to speak to both the current database and its successor without having to choose between them; we swept the whole collection for the kind of broken internal reference the new database would reject, and found almost none — five, all harmless, among tens of thousands of records; and we retired an old code-formatting tool that had quietly been tripping our own automated checks. Foundations, not façades — laid now, deliberately, so that the move itself can be boring.
